This is kind of random, but I hope it's okay that (in one of Ravi's recent bulletin board replies to Renji) I just put '18xx' for whatever year it's supposed to be in the D.Gray-man series, since there isn't a specific one given, beyond 'late nineteenth century'? XD;; I'm assuming it would need to be before 1868, if Tokyo's still Edo, though.

Edit: I think I kind of misplaced my brain yesterday. *bricked*

Actually, I think Japan's the Maiji period in DGM. It says it's at the end of a fictional 19th century and I remember it mentioning that Japan was visited by the Americans. They say it was closed for so long that the Earl was able to take over, but I assume it must have been opened if they actually know the situation over there(I feel very sorry for the American mission in that case -_- ). And I dunno if Akuma would bother with changing the name of the capital

(Hmm, I know that there's some weird inconsistent stuff in the anime on top of that - Leo's mother's tombstone, for instance, says 1818-1851 or something like that on it, I think, but the image on the posters at the end of the opening was painted in 1897, I think? *ponders* It's confusing. XD)

Yeah, Edo was changed to Tokyo during the first year of the Meiji period, although who knows how long it took before people actually remembered to call it that ^^;
