Language Laws Question

Hey there, gracious mods! I just had a quick question concerning written language laws. If Kio, whose main language is Japanese, tries to teach Ophelia, whose main language is English, how to read, what would happen? My guess is that the characters he writes would come out as their English equivalents, but that the explanations he gives to her about to the characters wouldn't change, which would probably cause some amount of confusion for them both. Is this right, or would something else happen?

Cool, this should be fun. XD Hopefully they can get themselves figured out eventually, since I see that Kio does have English listed as a second language.
