Not an urgent question, but....

I've been wondering this for quite a while now: How would the strongly locked (red on the map) doors stand up to something that can melt steel?

No, I'm not planning anything, why do you ask

Not a mod, but I thought red doors can only be unlocked if you have the right key, so...even if illogical, I don't think anything but the key can unlock them. What do you have that can melt steel? O_o;

Maybe the doors are made of pure tungsten. >_>

They're protected by a bulletin time field, so if you think you're blowing them up, you're actually blowing something up that has already been blown up and repaired. With a smiley face!

I think every repair in the institute should be bandaged over with a smiley face, JSYK. Including patients' wounds.

SMILEY FACE BAND-AIDS. YES. I want the ones that glow in the dark.

Oh God, I just imagined every single patient walking around at night glowing in the dark and LOL'd bad. D:

Clearly, the next step is for Damned to install some black lights. OONZ OONZ OONZ

Huh, I was gonna ask them the same question. 'cept I'm doing it with a cannon blast Are the locks and doorknobs steel-enforced, are they bolted on with high titanium or adamanite steel, or is there some magical force protecting it? OH! And also are the doors made out of steel, concrete, drywall, or wood? (so someone can blast a small hole and unlock the door from the other side)

[identity profile] emotionl4arobot.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe the whole room, external walls and contents, are made out of whatever they make non-destroyable video game areas with? You can detonate a nuke on those things and THERE'S NO EFFECT. 8|

I could not have explained the inexplicably inviolable physics of Landel's Institute better myself.

[identity profile] emotionl4arobot.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
I can't be the only person who will attempt to explode or otherwise destroy the non-destructable bits of video game worlds and then bitch about why one wall goes boom, but the one two steps to the side is INVULNERABLE.

...plus one of my characters already thinks they may all be in the Matrix a virtual projection. :|b

Totally possible at damned now Yes/No/Maybe So?

[identity profile] fureya01.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
PFFFFFFFFHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I'd say yes cuz there's always INSTA-HEAL/BANDAGES HEAL EVERYTHING when they wake up in the morning.

[identity profile] notachick.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's the answer, I think. Weird physics, but unless you have the key, nothing is getting through the red doors.

[identity profile] fureya01.livejournal.com 2009-11-13 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
So......no effects at all? All red-locked doors and rooms are completely indestructable?

[identity profile] notachick.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
That seems to be the answer, yes. The characters are free to try and then be frustrated when they realize it doesn't work - bombs, lock-picking, anything. Nothing but the key will open those doors.
