Just a quick question!

Regarding traveling the halls and making new threads[specifically the M81-M90 Hallway thread, which I didn't see in the damned_links post].

I just wanted to check before I actually did anything; am I remembering correctly, that you don't have to post your character through hallways that they've already explored, provided they don't actually stop in said locations?

Also, if you are moving your character from their room directly to somewhere else, do you have to post them leaving their room? Dist is going to be not quite running to Jade's, which is in the M81-M90 block, and I wasn't sure if I needed to post Dist somewhere else before I put the new thread up.

I'M SORRY IF I SUCK AND OVERLOOKED SOMETHING ;A;

EDIT: ...Yep, I suck and overlooked things. :| Nevermind.

WELU KEX. ♥

Yeah, just to clarify, you have to post your character going through those hallways until they've been around for 5 Nightshifts. After that, it's kind of assumed that they know their way around the patient blocks. :3

Uh oh... I was going by what this post said: "If your character is new (that is, it's only their first or second nightshift), you shouldn't be skipping hallways at all..." I took that to mean that after the second NS, it's okay to skip that particular room/hall. ^^;; Perhaps that "5 nightshifts" guideline could be specifically stated in that post?

For that matter... while we're kind of on the subject, besides the Sun Room, Rec Field, Courtyard, and Cafeteria, which other specific rooms are we absolutely not allowed to skip under any circumstances? Again, this is something I would like clarified.

(I know, that's something that Court or Erin would have to do, but something I'd like looked into if possible.)

I'd never heard 5 given as a specific number, but yeah, unless the character is really good at paying attention to where they are and stuff, I wouldn't want to skip after just two nightshifts.

And AFAIK you can't skip anything that isn't immediately surrounding the patient blocks - and I wouldn't move too fast through anywhere else, either, given that NSers and SCers can be just about anywhere.

Yeah, I've been skipping since second night on each character too based on that post -- not TONS, but condensing two halls into one tl;dr on one or the other, yes. After checking that there wasn't anything of interest in the halls, and obviously not skipping if the hall isn't posted yet.

Oh, crap! D: I, um, had gone ahead and taken advantage of that (just in the patient block area and the nearby main hall) after my character had been around for more than two in-game days. ^^;; He is very perceptive, but still. (Do I need to turn myself in, in that case? ^^;; )

Right, although I recall that I had asked about that some time ago, about how long we're supposed to wait in certain rooms if monsters, etc., hadn't been flushed out. The word I got was that in the large rooms, we only have to wait 24 hours, but that we don't have to wait that long in the "smaller" ones that might just have only the regular monsters. So, um... now I'm confused again about this. Should a guideline just be one room for every day, or what should be the limit? (Not that I post all that fast to begin with, but a specific number would be helpful for me.)

Thanks!

I would definitely ask the mods on this one if it's supposed to happen, but...in the past I've seen people ask an NPC mod if they had to stop in a particular room or not? We do know where the NSers and SCers are stationed...

I don't want to give any set guidelines since I'm not a mod or anything, but generally speaking the skipping is only a problem if you're blatantly abusing it. Nobody's going to come yell at you because OMG you skipped West Wing South Hall 1-B and you'd only been here two nights or whatever. If you, say, jumped from your room to Main Hall 1-East in one post, charged through ten halls in three one-line posts, or skipped right past the Sun Room, then yes, there's definitely a problem. You just have to allow for consequences for fast movement.

*Nodnod* The Institute isn't terribly HUGE, but especially if you're on your way to meet another character, having to wait a whole day for each room can easily take up half of the NS. =/ That may not be the case here, and IIRC, it mostly applies to just the "large" rooms, but something concrete would help, yes.

Anyway, hahah, I just now dug up the post where I had asked about this earlier.

I would say that if it's a room like the Sun Room or the Cafeteria or the Rec Field--places where SC'ers or NS-Only characters usually are, you should wait overnight at the very least. I know from personal experience that it's highly aggravating when a character BLAZES THROUGH the Institute all the way from point A to point B, when a NS-Only was hiding in one of the rooms they ran through. -_-

S-Seconding. It was the most frustrating part of SC. Especially for those in different time-zones...

ORITE... and the Entry Room. Almost forgot about that one. XD; And I now remember having PMed you about that, since it was turned into Hulle Granz Cathedral. XD

But that's why I was asking about which other rooms would count... because there might be others that I don't know about. =/ Especially on the second floor, since I've only had vK up there once (and it was during the Great Doyleton Zombie Attack, when there were no SCers or NSers). XD;

No worries. *pats* You weren't the one who blasted past me. XDDD And even so, it was a minor annoyance, really. It's just aggravating when you're excited to play a character you don't play very often, and someone runs through your assigned area before you get to pounce. And so forth. :3

Eh, I'd say that on the second floor, Main Hall 2-Center is a good one to pause at. The main hallways, really, are big targets for SCers, NS!Only, I'd say. Other areas aren't visited as often/are too small for the NS!Only/SCer to move in, especially if they're a fighting type. Though the Empty Child was in a Patient Block hallway back in The Great Bus Incident of Nightshift 28. But that wasn't a 'normal' night--patients weren't wandering through the patient blocks trying to find people.

I guess... the thing is, people want to play their NS!Only/SC'd characters. If it's a high-traffic area, expect someone to be there until you're SURE there's nothing.

It's also aggravating when you want to sic a monster on someone and they run right through the rec field without saying hi to the birdies. ;_;

I MEAN UH...

I can't remember where I read 5 to be honest. It could just be a magical number that popped into my head so many months ago. :| Serey's magical memory pops up to play again... Maybe it was a suggestion in the comments portion of the announcement or something, I really don't know. /)_(\

...FIVE IS A GOOD NUMBER, THOUGH? D8
