PLEASE READ ALL OF THE BELOW RULES BEFORE POSTING.

1. POSTING TO THIS MEME IS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. This means that if someone chooses not to participate, you must respect that decision and leave their characters out of any crit you post. Conversely, if you do choose to post your character(s) to the meme, you must accept all constructive input you receive. I will admit to being one of the skeptical when I saw that there was a Matt on the application list, just like I'll admit to being initially skeptical of Hetalia when those characters first got apped. Just as in Hetalia's case, though, the fact that you got accepted was enough to make me much more open-minded, and your actual posts have reassured me even more so. I love them! Granted, I'm not really as familiar with the second half of Death Note as I am with the first, but I think I still know enough to comment. Considering how little there is to go on with a character like Matt, I think you're pulling him off very well so far, especially considering how much you're probably going to be compared to the previous Matt. You hit the obvious key points of the material that are established in canon, and your prose and dialogue (inner and outer) for him read realistically for a person of his background in this kind of situation. It's easy and enjoyable to digest your writing style, too. Not too TL;DR, and not too short either. I've been stalking all his posts so far, and I'm glad to have him threading with Elaine right now. :D

Really, the only caveat I've had so far probably doesn't even really count, since it's not based in your writing or characterization at all. The only thing that's crossed my mind improvement-wise is that it'd be nice to see at least a few icons with canon artwork in them, even if they're just black and white. The fanart is all very nice, but it'd probably fit in better with his castmates to have at least some representation of Obata's art style in there too. If you feel that messes too much with the theme of your icons, then that's fine; it's a minor thing, so don't worry about it too much if that's not what you want to go for. And, really, if an icon thing the most you have to worry about others crit'ing you for, then I'd say that's a pretty good sign so far!

Thank you! That kind of throws me for a loop, the whole stalking thing. XD I'm really liking the thread with Elaine also; granted, I have no idea about anything to do with her canon, but I stalked her thread with Leela (at which I loled).

The thing about the icons is that it's difficult to find actual manga scans of Matt. Mello, Near, L, and Light aren't so hard because there's so much of them, but every time I go looking for actual, canon Matt pics, there's only what's from the anime. Nothing from the manga, which is what I would prefer. If you know where I can find any manga scans of Matt that are also of good quality and size, I'd love it if you pointed me in their direction (I'm sort of an icon whore, and they could be added to my collection DX).

I'd say feel free to take some from my Matt, but I don't know if you'd want to. (I was also pretty dead-set on the only canon colors we're given.)
