"Real" Personas for characters
Newbie here. Please be kind.
I've been itching to ask this for a bit.
How much or how little work do people put into what is supposed to be their identity as far as the doctors and nurses pretend? I read a little bit when someone was asking about patient files and the stuff in the patient possessions room. I'm mostly curious. It seems like that fake identity--diagnoses of what people are suffering from other than delusions of being other people, their "family" etc.--might be issues that would come up when dealing with the staff.
Can someone advise me or point to somewhere this may have been discussed before? I've read pretty far back on the lounge but not everything. I've also skimmed a lot of the posts in the actual community too.
As a side note. The wiki is confusing me terribly. I've worked on the real Wikipedia a little bit (correcting errors, not creating pages though there is one I mean to make some day), and one for Desperate Fans, so I'm not inexperienced in creating pages, but I am stumped. I need to do a new fandom page and then a character page. I feel dumb.
ETA: I'm posting this early (when few people on LJ arealive awake) because we're likely to be out most of the afternoon and evening. It depends when my boyfriend gets up, and then we have D&D from 4 til midnight CST. So if people are kind enough to answer I may not get back to replies until tomorrow.
Also, AIM = ReynardBleu

It's a hard question to answer, as I'm not sure exactly what the doctor-muns are allowed to say. Tad here, and I play Nii. I will say that for what gets discussed in the doctor therapy threads, the doctor-mun creates it. If you have concerns, you can probably talk to the player of whichever doctor you get assigned. But I will say that you should absolutely put up your wiki before you get into therapy (which won't be for while yet, since I'm guessing you're new).
Oh, but the "real name" that the staff uses was decided by you on your application.
As for the wiki part, it probably would be best to find someone on AIM. I'd volunteer, but I'm about to leave myself. Maybe if you give us your AIM name, someone will IM you?
Hope that helped, even a little! ^.^

I have the time now, and I may not when I start playing.

But said player was also completely familiar with my fandom, since...we have chars in the same fandom, so. D: I would, as Tad said above, suggest doing the wiki before a doctor came around. It's especially useful, too, for the chars who are telepaths.
As for the wiki - Yup. Make a new page for the fandom first if the fandom page has yet to be created. Then attached to that would be your character page. HOWEVER. You technically don't have to fill out anything on the fandom page yet. Just stick in the template headings ("World", etc) and then leave it blank. You can just fill it in later. ^^ The most important part is your character info, and not so much their world's canon unless it plays a vital role to your character (but you can always put such explanations in your character page, too).
Uh. Yeah. Hope that helps? XD;;;;

All done now, except for messing up the fandom tag.

The only thing that you, the player provides, is the 'real name' for the character. Everything else is handled by the doctor-muns and the mods. And yes, it is indeed based off of the character's actual life. Which is why it's good to have character info up somewhere accessible by NPC mods/doctor-muns.
And it looks as though the Wiki question has been answered.

As a concept I adore wikis. In practice they are a headache. I've got multiple characters over on DF and I've done about 1/2 my wiki pages for them. I'm concentrating on just the one here for a long time yet since this place is so busy.

modifychange it. If capitalization is preferred, then someone higher-ranked than me will have to fix. So sorry.
