And as to not spam the lounge, a meme that floated around the journals a couple of months ago, but I can put it here too.

Almost every childhood game incorporates very real, very human fears into its structure. Consider hide & seek. One child, called "It," tries to find any number of other children playing and catch them so that it can lose It status. That's really just an excuse to switch the roles around among players so that everyone gets an equal share of each role, but who cares? The idea is there. Hide... or else you might get caught.

And there's only ever one "It." Not fair at all, in my opinion, but you are humans and your creativity is therefore limited-- especially among children.

Imagine, then, that there is more than one It running around and the very least you need to worry about is being caught because being caught is just the beginning. These Its aren't interested in converting you and they certainly aren't going to let you go so that they can play another round. They're going to break you and kill you because that's their idea of fun. The "hide & seek" part of it is just a way of prolonging the experience.

There are only ever three Its. The playing field is much wider, too-- why limit the game to a playground when you have the entire world? And the other players? Let's just call them "everyone else."
