Summary: What happens when one of the senshi become an SC patient?
Notes: I hope this is getting in on time. XD; Especially since it was written in just the past couple hours. Yes, yes, I know we've had a while to think on these things, but I couldn't think of anything at first and then just tonight, yeah. I tried my best, though! Sorry for butchering any characters! Other than that, um... enjoy?

Usagi's heart was pounding so loudly, she was certain the other people in the hall would hear. She had felt like kicking herself once she awoke and effectively realized she had slept through the start of Nightshift (and through dinner-- a horrible fact that was very obvious thanks to the low growling coming from her empty stomach). She didn't even know how long she had slept; only that it was before dinner when she fell asleep, and after the start of Nighshift once she awoke.

And that wasn't even the worst of it. The worst part, was she was supposed to meet up with Ami once night had fell. She was sure that her friend was used to her antics by this time (it probably wouldn't surprise anyone if she was late, but a few heart attacks were likely in the rare case that she ever be early for something), and she was sure that Ami would be waiting for her still when she finally did show up.

So, Usagi had made a mad dash from her room, into the hall separating the male and female blocks, then continued on until she reached the hallway in front of the Sun Room. (She hadn't been certain why that had been the designated meeting place for the night, but it had sort of sounded like a good idea when it was suggested).

Unfortunately, upon reaching said hallway, she was disheartened to see that Ami wasn't anywhere in sight. That was strange. Ami was rarely ever behind schedule. If she wasn't here, did that mean she had run into trouble..?

No, no. Usagi shook her head, as though trying to clear that thought from her mind. If Ami had run into anything, Usagi would've surely seen her on her way to the Sun Room hallway. Even if she had been running, she would've at least heard her friend calling to her, right?

...right?

The blonde nodded in an attempt to reassure herself. Maybe Ami, like her, had somehow lost track of time. It was unlikely, and she couldn't quite shake the feeling that something was wrong, but it was still a possiblity...

--

"Mi-chan," came the hushed whisper, and Rena reached out to grab her friends arm, effectively keeping her from venturing outside. Pressing back against the wall, and glancing warily to the patients who continued to pass them and continue their way down the hall, she continued quietly. "Sora and I ran into one of the brainwashed patients last time we came here."

Mion gave a short nod and grinned, obviously catching the 'we need to be careful' that was hidden beneath Rena's words. "Don't worry, Rena. We'll skirt around the edge of the field without anyone catching us." As if to solidify the statement, she gave the other girl a quick wink and thumbs up. "This old man's sure of it!"

Despite having experienced it first hand, and thus knowing too well what could happen, the comment brought a mild sense of comfort. "Okay." Rena managed a slight smile as she let go of Mion's arm; choosing instead to grip onto her flashlight with both hands. "Let's go."

Mion nodded once more, flashing another quick grin as her fingers tightened around her own flashlight. "Right!" With that, she stepped up to her roll as club leader and lead the way outside.

Unfortunately, once they stepped outside, it was clear something wasn't right. Or rather, it wasn't clear. The area right outside the entrence was covered in a strange fog and, oddly enough, there was a definite chill in the air. Mion rubbed her arms slightly, a small frown crossing her face.

"Bad weather..?" she asked quietly, although it was meant as more of a comment then a question.

Something about the fog seemed almost... unnatural. Granted, nothing about this place was really natural, not in the least bit, but it was still unnerving.

Reaching out with one hand, Rena grasped for the back of Mion's shirt-- the last thing she wanted was to get separated from her friend right now.

Around twenty or so feet from the two girls, a third figure stood, her appearance concealed in the fog she had helped create. A gloved hand reached up silently, her fingers pressed lightly against an earring as a small visor extending over her eyes. Now, she could analyse their movements, even in the limited visiblity. For the moment, she seemed perfectly content with watching the two; her fingers moved swiftly over the keys of the miniture computer in her hands, and her eyes continued to follow their signatures on her visor. Only when it seemed they weren't going to immediately leave the area, did she snap the computer shut; thus allowing both it and her visor to disappear once more.

If they had no intention on leaving, then they needed to be stopped immediately.

Closing her eyes, the soldier of Mercury brought both arms to her chest as small droplets of water began swirling around her. Then, raising her arms above her head, the droplets of water gathered around her hands before shooting through the fog as she spread her arms and directed the attack. "Shine Aqua Illusion!"

It was more from surprise of hearing the shout, rather than any thoughts of an attack, that caused Rena to act almost instantly. Her grip on the back of her friends shirt tightened as she pushed against Mion's back, before using her whole body to try and throw them both to the ground.

There was an audible "Oof!" from the green-haired girl, and Rena herself couldn't help letting a slight squeak escape as she landed on the other girl (once she thought back on it at a later time, the 'oof' might have been a response to that, rather than the initial impact of hitting the ground). She then moved to the side, enough so Mion could get up again if she wanted, and looked in the direction of the shout.

The first, most obvious thing both girls noticed, was the fact that the fog had cleared. That in itself would have been strange. After all, fog didn't normally clear up in the span of only a few seconds, did it? Although again, one had to take into consideration the fact that this place was far from being normal.

The next, and slightly more jarring observation, was the fact that there was a girl standing a small distance away from them. That in itself wouldn't have been strange, since, well, there were a lot of different patients in this place. But it was her clothing that gave her away. It wasn't the typical, drab, gray uniform worn by all the other catives kept there. It was a... well, if was difficult to know just what it was, but it looked to be a uniform of some sort; a uniform that consisited of the colors blue and white.

"I guess you weren't kidding," Mion commented quietly, pushing herself to her knees. Not that she had doubted Rena when she was, indirectly, advised to be careful, but still. "Do you know who she is?" she asked, glancing quickly to Rena, before returning her attention to the fighter.

Rena's initial response was going to be a 'no'. But, as the beams from both hers and Mion's flashlights passed over the other girls form, the no began dissolving into a 'yes'. Unless she was mistaken, hadn't that girl been on the field the night she and Sora had been? The girl could assume the answer was yes, but there was no way of knowing for sure. "She might have been here the last time I was here with Sora, but..." trailing off, she shook her head slightly, "Rena can't be sure."

Mion frowned and opened her mouth, as though ready to reply, but she wasn't given the chance.

Sailor Mercury advanced a few steps, causing the other two girls to jump to their feet ready to defend themselves if need be. "You're not supposed to be here," she spoke calmly and clearly. She didn't have the luxery of fighting along side the others now, and she had no intention of letting them down. If the two girls insisted on continuing their infiltration of the area, she'd definitely put a stop to it.

"It's all right," Mion began as calmly as she could, her frown deepening as she addressed the blue and white-clad fighter. "We're not here to hurt anyone, we just want to get to the shed over there, okay?"

Rena once again grasped for Mion's shirt, this time grabbing hold of a sleeve. "Mi-chan..." she murmured, not daring to take her eyes off of the girl. Talking, she remembered, hadn't helped the last time. Why should things be any different this time? If anything, the situation was probably worse. While this girl hadn't summoned any lightning or used any weird energy attacks, it was only the two of them against her. They didn't have the advantage of being with a slightly larger group this time.

Indeed, it was made perfectly clear that talking wouldn't do good in this situation, either. Mercury moved to the side, positioning herself between the two other girls and their apparent target for the night. (And consequently, both Mion and Rena turned as she moved, making absolute sure to keep their attention on her.)

"And it's as I said," Mercury stated, "You aren't supposed to be here. Therefore, you're not going anywhere."

Mion shook her head slightly. Couldn't these people see they were just being used by the Institute?! "Listen--"

"Mercury!" The two visibly jumped as Sailor Mercury interrupted, her right arm extended to her side. Neither could anticipate exactly what was going to happen, but both knew it wasn't good as an instument looking remarkably like a lyre made completely of water appeared near her outstretched hands. Even more surprising was the slight melody that filled the air as she ran her fingers across the watery strings. If it hadn't been for the senshi continuing with, "Aqua Rhapsody!" the two likely wouldn't have figured it was an attack at all.

Luckily, the shout, plus the sight of the smaller streams of water combining to form a larger jet, were enough of an indicator. The realization of what was coming struck not a moment too soon, and this time it was Mion who reacted first. Much in the same way as Rena had done previously, Mion brought both herself and her friend to the ground, closing her eyes as the jet of water rushed overhead.

--

Usagi had waited for a while, hoping, despite herself, that Ami would show up and apologize for making her wait. But as seconds turned to minutes, the blonde fearfully realized that something had happened.

And so, she had found herself running back the way she had come. Maybe, if she returned that way, she'd see a familiar face. Perhaps not the one she was most worried about, but maybe someone, anyone would be able to tell her where Ami was. It wasn't utill she reached the hall just outside the female blocks that she froze upon overhearing a couple other patients talking.

There was a Special Counseling patient in the Recreational Field again.

Usagi rubbed her arm absently, still remembering what had happened the last time she had gone there. Surely, there was no way Ami was... Ami couldn't... There was absolutely no way Ami could be there.

Despite those thoughts, the blonde found herself running on down the hall, and into the next hall between two male blocks. The door leading outside was at the end of this hall, she knew. Once there, she'd go outside and see once and for all that she was being ridiculous. She probably wouldn't even know who the unfortunate brainwashed patient was.

Somehow, she was failing at convincing herself.

It was with a shaky hand that she flung open the door-- and saw the familiar attack that narrowly missed two other girls.

"Ami-chan!!"

The cry seemed to surprise all three girls, as even Mercury had stopped in place, her full attention focused on the blonde that had appeared on the field. Mion and Rena exchanged a quick look, before nodding in silent aggreement. This was perhaps their one chance, they wouldn't let it pass.
