Friendly Mod Reminder! + Almost done with apps!

HEYA, NEWBIES! <3 Since I know it's hard to figure out how to navigate through a new RP – especially one that isn't set up with the usual LJ-cut logging system – I wanted to let you all know that while posting up your character's schedule and making plans with other players beforehand is totally fine, you don't necessarily need to in this particular RP if you don't want to. I mean, you can't bust in on a group of people who are actively threading without getting their permission, of course, but, if you see a post during Dayshift or Nightshift in which a character is alone and their player hasn't made a note of their thread being reserved, it usually means that they're free and willing to thread with any character who's thrown their way. I'm personally a big fan of spontaneous threading, so I figured I'd clarify how that works for those of you who like it too. \o/

In other news, we're on the home stretch of apps (update list here); I only have one left to read and we only have 11 e-mails left to send out. Again, sorry to everyone for the long wait and thank you for your continued patience! I'll post up a new intro post for the people getting late acceptances once all those are sent out. <3

...Also, to completely contradict myself: I'm planning on taking Sylar off hiatus come Dayshift, which means he's ICly been out for a couple of days... umm, what did I miss and does he have any unfinished business he needs to attend to besides throttling Elle? 8D

And while we're at it: IF ANY NEW PLAYERS HAVE ANY QUESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERING, FEEL FREE TO COMMENT HERE!

I haven't mentioned it IC before, but does Kio have his piercings here? He's still a bit shell-shocked and trying to figure out why Siegfried is mumbling about the pace being a hospital, not a shcool XD, so he might not notice immediately that his earrings are missing. So, are they?

And, I love the whole setup. Character torture ftw <3

I believe another character had several piercings as well, but they were taken away from him. The nurses and doctors probably wouldn't want to leave a patient with something like that in case they did something like... I don't know, try to swallow them or something.

Depending on mod approval, though, the piercings might be found in his box in the Patient Possessions room.

Hmm, though these days, we do allow characters to keep one or two small objects of sentimental value if they seem benign enough to the staff, I don't think they'd allow Kio to keep earrings since they're pointy and could pose harm and all that. However, if Kio were to find his patient posessions box on the second floor (which contains some belongings from his "real" life) he could find all his earrings there and keep them so long as he was careful not to wear them during the day (they'd get confiscated). :3

B) Question on what our characters can be assumed to be doing when we're on hiatus -- I'll be at the in-laws for Thanksgiving over 3/4th shift. I was planning to assume "ate lunch by himself, then went to the sunroom and read stuff on the bulletin during 4th shift" -- is that possible, or do I need to come up with a reason for him to actually take a nap?

I'm obviously not a mod, but that's usually what you do. Naps are a favorite for most people; I usually have my characters think over what's happened lately. Like you said, if you character wouldn't normally take a nap, and you'd rather do that, you could have them fall asleep by accident. I know Mello does that from time to time and wakes up pissed. XD

You might have to make a post though for the Bulletin reading. Not sure though.

Usually, when a character is put on hiatus for a while, they ICly succumb to sudden and inexplicable "drowsiness" or "get sick"; basically, they're out of commission for however much time the player needs even if they don't want to be. (For example, I'm having it that Sylar was stuck, unconscious, in his room for the time that I was on hiatus.) We generally only let people paraphrase what their character "did" while they were on hiatus if it's only for a couple of daytime shifts or so, which is your case, so... that's fine! \o/

Yeah, since most characters wouldn't ICly nap on their own, sudden and inexplicable unconsciousness is usually the best idea. XD And as far as bulletin board reading: since the bulletin board is in a kind of weird twilight zone of suspension of disbelief in terms of its timeline and how it functions in relation to third-person posts, you don't really need to make a post to the Sun Room in order to use it, though it's of course preferred that you have your character mention visiting it in one of your third-person posts during the day.

So are Dayshift character intros going to work the way they did during Nightshift, with people introing whenever they want? I see in the archives that there's usually an intro poll to organize people into different groups for intros, but I'm guessing there isn't enough time before Dayshift to set one of those up and have every newbie respond to it.
