I've been persistently ill for a while, and I just need a break from feeling like I need to do anything RP-related to keep up.

So, L will be hiatused for the rest of DS! From the beginning of NS to the end of the month, he will be on slowatus, by which I mean I will try to at least get into NS in a timely manner. (I'm assuming it will start in the last week of the month.)

Faye, I've been assuming that you wanted to end the thread with Murphy's last tag. Court, we discussed what to do, and I'll get to that. That should about cover it apart from any bulletin posts that need to be made.

Hey, everyone! Several people have approached us with this idea, so we decided to come to the playerbase at large for their two cents.

What am I talking about? A GUIDE FOR NEWCOMERS.

So, obviously, this is kind of an undertaking, since it requires not only figuring out what's important for potential applicants and new players to know off the bat, but also how to explain it in the clearest way possible. A lot of us are veterans, though, and so I think it's harder for us to come up with what would be the most relevant for our newbies.

That's why we'd like for you to submit possible questions and topics that you think ought to be included in a guide. New players and potential applicants, your opinions are especially important, so please feel free to jump in. This should give us a starting point on how to proceed.

Lastly, we'd like to ask for one or more volunteers willing to help out with some things. Right now we need someone to 1) maintain the Damned Calendar, 2) post monthly reminders in the lounge regarding our ATP ad, 3) go forth along with Claire to comment under ATP character ads that meet Damned's specifications (she's been doing this on her own for awhile, but would love additional help if anyone's willing).

We may need help with additional tasks in the future, but we'll let you guys know if that happens. As always, we're grateful to those who volunteer to help make the game run smoother, and so any contributions are truly appreciated.

Renamon can tell whether your character is a human, Digimon, or none of the above. Which do you and yours fit into?

--A note for the more complicated characters, it has been more of a scale thing. Like Jiraiya came off as human, but with supremely slight questionable feelings due to his bond with toads. Vlad Masters, when he was here, came off as pure question marks since he was (I believe) half human and ghost. Shinigami and Nobodies come off as not. Things in human form come off as not.--

If you are new or have some addendum, please take the time to fill out this questionnaire; it would help me greatly.

atrabilis has the ability to hypnotize and control the minds of others by using his voice as a medium and his will as a propellant. He can command another to do a specific action or input suggestions into the person's thoughts with simple speech. Usually this power applies to everyone, but in Landel's, it has, as expected, been reduced.

This power will not work on the following: Landel's staff and monsters, strong-willed individuals, or those who cannot hear/understand or obstruct their hearing in some way.

For weak-willed patients, particularly those who show signs of dependency or easy sway, on the other hand, Nigredo will be able to make "strong suggestions" to. What this means is that the listener will want to do or think as he says (but not necessarily follow through).

Of course, the line between "strong" and "weak" (among other things) is difficult to determine, especially when it comes to such a varied populace. Therefore, I request the following from you, good players:

(1) Is there anything (mental guards, language barriers, handicaps) which would prevent his power from succeeding?

(2) How "strong" is your character's will? If your character is independent, relies on the self, is not easily influenced by anyone, etc., they will likely escape his power of suggestion.

(3) Is your character particularly dependent on another? Who are they dependent on? How is this relationship?

Please keep in mind that Nigredo is normally adverse to this power, and unless he hates your guts, he would only use hypnosis as a last resort (e.g., save his or someone else's life). Therefore, if your character does fit the "weak" criteria but you the player don't want them affected, we can always avoid the hypnosis route. Also, for your reference, here is an IC example of hypnosis in use.

First of all, just a heads up to Faye, Sarah, Cager, and Evee that I'll be slow to non-posting with Meekins (and Taura's visitor) until Saturday... I tend to shut down near the end of the work week (and having an oddly disrupted sleep pattern all week and a headache that won't go away, really hasn't helped much, let's just say). Please let me know if this will be a problem for any of you. (Sarah? If this is making you want to switch Taura's visitor shift to fourth, I think there might be still time for you to ask the mods, but I'm good either way.)

Secondly, just checking in with Cager, Evee, and Faye to see if any of you are still okay with backthreading our threads. Again, I'll be slow until Saturday, but! I have Monday through Wednesday of next week off from work, so that should help bunches. X3 And if any of you just want to handwave our threads or postpone them, I'm cool with that too, so long as you let me know how the existing started threads ended up, just so I know what not to contradict later on. XD

How do you make the 'From here' and 'To here' tags without entering into a catch-22 trap?

Say I start at place X and want to move to Y; so I make a post at X and end off with 'To ...', but I won't be able to know the exact link until I actually make the post at Y.

But I can't know the link to use under 'From ...' in the post at Y if I haven't made the post at X.

Yet I've seen so many people manage this without editing... how do you guys do it?

I probably should have posted something official a couple of days ago, but here goes.

Early, early Monday morning, I am leaving my second homestate of Arizona (where I go to school) for my first homestate of Virginia (where my family lives), where I'll be staying for the next few months before my final semester of my MA career starts in the fall. As such, this weekend is going to consist of me running around like a chicken without a head, tying up loose ends and saying goodbye to my AZ peeps. I had hoped that I could get regular tagging in between activities, but that's looking less and less likely.

As such, I'm just making it official that I'm going to be slow getting to tags until probably Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how long it takes me to settle in back home. It's not that I don't love you all, it's just that I have a lot going on right now and I figured it's only fair to let you all know. :)



Evee! I'm still up for Ema and Phoenix for Early Afternoon funtimes if you're willing to deal with slowtags/backtags. If not, we can reschedule to Late Afternoon or another day--I'll understand. ♥ Also, if we do decide to go through with plans, can they meet somewhere that serves food? Ema hasn't had lunch yet. She'll use her gift card to buy him a shake or a drink or something!

asdf as is probably obvious to everyone at this point, with moving and my major assessments falling due around this time, I've been failing out of posting Scarecrow at anything approaching acceptable speeds. So for that reason (and the fact that it's dayshift already scream), please let me know here if you'd like to work out anything that happened or just leave things as is (ala "And then they woke up!") or have Crane limbo into the thread and proceed to break out a wonderfully choreographed dance to Lady GaGa.

 
I totally forgot to post this before guys! >< But one of the things that I just realized I left Naraku with was his shapeshifting ability, and he has some mild telepathy to boot, so he can change into someone special when he decides to attack you at NS!

As many have noticed, I have been failing at posting lately. This is mostly due to me working furiously on a side-project to help me make food money this month.

The deadline is Wednesday though, so I'll be backposting to dinner and whatnot on Wednesday night or Thursday morning (Japan Standard Time). I sincerely apologize to all my threadmates and I'm afraid I have to ask one small favor:

HK has now begun throwing food over here, and made a good deal of noise about it. We have a total of 44-49 characters who previously said that they were going to or likely to participate, and 38 that are currently posted. I've made a list of all those participating, with links to their threads. If you have changed your mind, or are one of the people I have listed as potential participants, please respond to this post, so I can continue to maintain an accurate headcount.

All characters are freely open to start throwing food. This includes those that I have down as reactionary participants. Those who have plans for mutual annoyance set up, go nuts!

Just wanted to make sure everyone remembers what's coming up at breakfast: FOOD FIGHT!

HK is going to begin throwing food during the middle of breakfast. Anyone who wants to participate in the food fight, feel free to say your character gets hit, because anything that's aerodynamic on HK's tray will be sent flying. I'll be posting a notice when this happens as well, so everyone can join in the fun if they want. Anyone who doesn't want to get involved, no worries.

It is also confirmed that there will be direct attacks on staff responding to the situation. This will not be limited to more food throwing, as several characters are confirmed to be willing and likely to physically assault staff. We have thirty-five characters who will likely be participating, and at least four will be specifically targeting staff. There may also be food trays being thrown, as well as glasses, so watch your heads, everybody.

I'd just like to ask that if there is anyone who would like to participate but didn't respond to my original post, anyone who has changed their mind, or anyone else planning to be physically attacking others besides Snow, my own boys and potentially Sakura and Lightning, please respond to this post. I'd like to make sure everyone has a clear idea of how this shit's gonna go down before it happens, so it doesn't turn into an organizational headache for anyone besides Landel.

Edit: Also, anyone who is planning on attempting to leave the cafeteria, please respond!
