And now, it's that time of the year week again!

VISITORS.

If you want your character to get a visitor (a family/friend from their "real" life who looks/acts nearly identically to someone from their canon who isn't already at Landel's) during 3rd or 4th shift, fill out the poll below. (The visitor can also be a "rehabilitated" character who was previously at Landel's.)

The guidelines are simple:
You can only have one of your characters get visited; if you've had a particular character get visited before, you can have a different one do it this time if you want, and if you do choose to stick with the same character, you may have them visited by the same visitor as before or a different one. You may also choose for your character to get a small group of visitors, but only if the NPC mod would be able to realistically handle it; multiple characters sharing one visitor at the same time is okay too.

Remember, characters who have just been introduced from this most recent app cycle cannot get a visitor. :( Sorry!

We'll leave this poll open for a few days and then the NPC mods will claim who they want to NPC for based on the fandoms they know; anyone who isn't taken will be up for grabs for regular players to play!

FAQ

Q: What's the policy on other players [non-NPC mods] playing visitors?
A: We let players help with visitor threads if a fandom is obscure/no NPC mod knows it, we're short on NPC mods, or if the player has a player in mind who they really want to play out the thread with. Let us know if you'd like a particular player to NPC for you!

Q: Can you ask for a visitor if your character is currently on hiatus?
A: So long as your character will be back during the visitor shift, you may request a visitor, yes!

Q: Is it possible to ask for the same visitor? Or one where the other visitor would come from the same "universe" as the first visitor, so the stories they have would match.
A: Yup, you can have the exact same visitor you had the first time or a different one, but just keep in mind all subsequent visitors should have matching stories about your character's "real" life.

Q: I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to make a special guest appearance and play their old character (now dropped) for me. Would this be an issue since they're not in the game anymore?
A: We've actually done this before with an old mun coming back to NPC their now-dropped character in a visitor thread; since they played the same incarnation of the character in the game, it's fine if a former player comes back for NPC duties.

Q: I haven't sent my character's "real life" to the mods yet like the updated rules say I should. Does that mean I have to get it approved before my character can get a visitor?
A: Since we're pretty busy with apps right now, we probably wouldn't be able to approve all the "real life" summaries we get in time for visitors. Because of this, you guys are free to use any "real life" scenario that you've already figured out, but please try to keep it fairly down-to-earth for the time being. If you want something especially crazy in your character's history, please shoot us an IM or comment here.

Q: Should my character's "real life" be consistent with the "real lives" of their canonmates?
A: That's up to you and the players of your canonmates! Make sure to discuss your plans with a canonmate beforehand if you do want to include them as part of your character's "real life", though, and try to be sparing about using major characters in your character's canon who aren't yet in the RP (so that you don't box in someone who might app that character in the future).

Haven't played a visitor shift before, so I just want to clarify: is there a limit to the number of characters per visitor shift the way there is with new character introductions? Or can we freely choose which shift we want the visitor to appear in?

We generally try to split the characters equally between each shift and also depending on how many visitors each NPC has to handle per shift, but if a player has obligations RL or in-game that cause their character to only be available for one shift (for example, my character, Sylar, is all booked up except for fourth shift), then that player can let us know ahead of time and we'll do our best to accommodate!

Followup note since tiny textbox is tiny -- I put two options for visitor -- the former is the one I'd prefer, but the latter would be awesome as well and I know several players expressed enthusiasm for playing the character when I apped Taura.

ETA (I also revoted): I talked to Sam (Juri-mun, not the other Sam) about Bel and she's willing to -- we worked out reasonable "real life" parameters and everything.

One thing I did want to run by you (I'll send in her "real life" soon) -- I've been planning for her "real life" diagnosis to be an eating disorder, because her canon is full of TL;DR on body issues from *most* of the lead characters (including one with serious eating disorders who is not her) but I realize that's a touchy subject. Is this okay? It's not going to come up much if at all, and I'll be happy to put trigger warnings if it ever does.

Because the rule about the "real history" being approved is sort of new, I wondered if that has to be approved prior to getting a visitor. I know Toby and Eryn are doing their histories together, but I don't think it'll be possible to write up Juri's (and get it approved) before visitor shifts. So I was wondering. I think Eyrn said it might be possible for her to do Miki, so she I doubt she'd contradict Utena or Anthy's "real" history. But if approval is needed, I know basically what I had in mind after reading Utena's, so I could try to get it in during the next few days.

And I'll confirm my consent to do Akio.

I have a question before I vote, if that's okay. I'm still working on his "real life" history because I'm lazy and didn't do it earlier, but I was wondering if Shinichi could be visited by himself...or, more specifically, by his alter-ego, Edogawa Conan. In the real life thing I've got worked out in my head, Conan is "Jimmy's" little brother.

I just put in my visitor request in the poll for Marie to come visit Jason, but I might want to change it now, since Conklin's never gotten a visitor and it's his turn to have his brain broken. Would that be possible? Not to alter my poll answer, obviously, but to disregard it in favor of someone else?

I mean, if nobody knows the canon well enough/wants to play Dr. Panov to come visit Conklin, then I'll be happy with Marie visiting Jason, I just thought it was something I want to throw out there.
