NS 58 Failed-Mission Consequence # 2: Spirit Mini Event (and shift extension)
As many of you are aware, both missions from this DS were unsuccessful, which means there will be a second consequence this NS. Starting now, characters may see apparitions/spirits of previously dropped or killed characters. For example, Sora might see Minato, but he would not see someone like Donald (who's never been apped in the game before) or Venom (who is currently in game).
Here are some more points:
1. This mini event is purely optional. You're free to have your character/thread opt out if you're not interested in taking part for whatever reason.
2. Spirits that appear must have an IC connection to at least one of the characters in your thread. In other words, Minato's spirit may appear to Sora because he ICly knew him as his roommate, but he wouldn't suddenly be bombarded with spirits of people no one in his group has ever met before.
3.Your character may see more than one spirit provided they meet the above requirements. However, you may want to work out details with your threadmates beforehand.
4. Spirits will not directly interact with anyone. They cannot be heard, only seen. They may walk through the room in a dream-like state, stand nearby, unwittingly trail after a character, or randomly appear in different places. However, they are unable to communicate with your character in any way, shape or form, and will not attempt to do so. Any attempts to get their attention will not work. (In the event that there are multiple spirits present, however, you're free to have them interact in some way so long as your characters cannot hear any dialogue exchanged between them.)
5. If your character tries to attack, touch, or grab a spirit, they will go right through them as if they're made out of thin air. However, your character may feel unusually cold and anxious if they walk right through them.
6. Whether threadmates can see your character's spirit(s) is up to you. In other words, Sora could be the only one who sees Minato, or his threadmates could see him as well. Similarly, Sora could see the spirits appearing to his threadmates, or he could not see them at all, depending on the players' personal preference.
7. Individual spirits can appear in multiple locations at the same time. For example, Sora might see Minato's spirit, but Aigis could see him as well even though she's currently in a different thread/location.
8. Nearby groups cannot see spirits from other threads in passing. In other words, if Venom were to pass Sora in the hallway, he wouldn't see Minato's spirit hanging around next to him.
We realize that this is happening rather late in the nightshift, but between drug trials, intercom and radio announcements, Harrington's appearance, Marc's appearance, and the first failed-mission consequence from earlier this NS, we didn't think it would be a good idea to unleash everything at once. That said, we've decided to extend this NS by three more days in order to give everyone enough time to deal with this and to allow us to make final arrangements for the last IC day of the military arc. Nightshift will now end on Friday.
