Meme Time!
Due to finding the concept rather incredibly interesting, and personally being a bit bored, I has a meme.
What would your character(s) do if they broke out of Landel's, and found themselves stuck in 1990s-ish New Jersey?
- Alternatively, they're "cured" of their delusions and are released instead of escaping
- Assume their powers are restrained as they are in the institute
- There's still monsters at night~
- Lulz = A++

If Rukia escaped, well, she of course wouldn't leave without, like... almost everyone. She's very determined that they all get out of this together, AND that Landel and Muraki die horrible deaths. |D But if that were somehow all concluded, she and Renji would no doubt stick together and find jobs to make some money. I imagine Rukia working as a tour guide or something (I think the idea of her trying to catch people's attention when she's less than 5 feet tall is just too good to pass up) while trying to get into the acting biz. And Renji could totally be a bouncer or something equally intimidating. And they would hang out with Matsumoto and drink, and Hitsugaya would glare at them all disapprovingly. Oh, and I get they would take in Ururu and Allen, because they should totally be their adopted kids. X3
It would be full of cute and silliness. &hearts
If she was 'cured' and became Hanada Shiori, she would probably just go hom and go back to school, keep practicing art, and hang out with Kaien a lot. And be all, "I totally idolize you, but am baffled by your mannerisms." ^^

Well, of course he'd bring all his allies with him when he escapes, because he's just That Kind Of Guy. Most of them would be fine on their own
though I don't know how well New Jersey would stand up to Usopp and Sai, but he'd have to keep an eye on poor helpless awkward newly-human ZEX. :OIf Captain adopted the name/persona of "Caleb Stern", he'd probably get a job to support the two of them and pay for a small apartment. And ZEX would hit on him constantly. And eventually Zelnick would give up on being loyal to Talana (... wait would she have a "real world" equivalent? But it wouldn't be the same, surely), and give in, and they would live happily ever after. <3
... except for the part where they never see their homes ever again, ZEX would probably always have difficulties interacting with humans and bad moments of helplessness/self-doubt, Zelnick would always be haunted by not knowing if he had saved the universe, etc. etc. etc. and so on and so forth. BUT OTHERWISE HAPPY. :D

although i think the idea of the Captain trying to teach ZEX how to drive would be incredibly hilarious. and for some reason i picture there being a couch fort in their apartment for some reason, although i don't know who made it.

Angel would, uh...............GAWD ANGEL WHY ARE YOU NO FUN? He'd probably brood. And find some blonde to save in an alleyway, unless it's Buffy, in which he'd...have issues. And he may or may not continuously be annoyed by Spike while working up a load of gay subtext
as usualbetween them as they snipe at one another. :| Which is really how things would work no matter what setting he's in. D:no subject
If he was cured, he'd go home, finish college, work at the design studio his sister owns and probably keep being a scary secret stalker. :| Poor Real World!version of Hijikata. The man cannot escape him.

Qui-Gon would be troubled from how technologically primitive 90's!Earth is, especially since they won't be able to find a way home. But then I guess he could settle on Earth and
marrybe with Obi-Wan.Clark would probably also wig out, but he might take the power-damping thing better than Brock. And he might just try to make sure everyone's okay before trying to go home to Kansas.

Of course, he'd have his nakama to look after him, though, so maybe they'd help keep him out of trouble, and they'd just...tirelessly search forever for a way back home. There's no One Piece in the 90's. ;A; What would he have to live for?
If Luffy were "released" as Timothy Gatz...well, I'm not real sure. His "real life" background has never come up in-game, so I don't really know. I guess I ought to think on that. HUMM. I still think he'd be pretty crazy, though.
Obi-Wan: He'd stick close to Qui-Gon, of course, but would be pretty :( over how backwards Earth is. If it turned out they were stuck there for good, I agree with Fam in that they'd probably settle down together somewhere, but they'd probably devote a lot of their time trying to unmask other villains like Martin Landel or something, I dunno.
He'd be pretty disturbed once he discovered the Star Wars franchise, though. Just sayin'.
If he were released as Ezra Klein, I imagine he'd go back to teaching little school children until Andy became an adult and came back to murder him or something, oh snaps.
Claude: He wouldn't escape unless he knew all his friends were with him. He'd sooner rot in Landel's than leave any of his pals behind.
With that said, if he did manage to get out, he'd likely take being stranded on 90s!Earth almost unnervingly well in the end, especially since he's kind of had his time in Landel's to get used to the idea and expects it to be a problem once he gets out anyway. Actually, he'd be pretty interested to see first-hand how the people of 90s!Earth live, and he'd probably grow to like it. I don't think he'd ever give up hope on finding a way home, though he'd be prepared to accept the possibility of being stuck there forever if it came to it. In the meantime, he and Guy could haunt the local Best Buy or something, AMIRITE?
If he were to be "released" as Thomas Appleby, I imagine he'd return to his miserable post in the military, secretly wishing his delusions of other worlds and kick-ass friends had been real, bawww. :*(

Maybe go back to Japan to teach kendo like she used to. That or try to cobble together enough magitech from radio shack parts to use her dimensional transference to gtfo and bring back a TSA battleship to fight Landel with.
no subject
Of course, this is if he was "cured" of his delusions and set free without his crewmates. I just don't see Zoro intentionally breaking out of Landel's without help from his nakama (who are all experienced enough not to let go of his wrist until they're somewhere he can't wander off. Like a cardboard box.), in which case they'd probably... uh, wander trying to find a way home. While they're doing that Zoro would try to acquire some swords, then find himself accidentally harassing people before getting arrested. Or he'll end up playing sub to Nami's plans and be forced into temporary but hopelessly degrading jobs for the money. THE USUAL.
Misa, on the other hand, would not find it all that hard to re-build her life. As long as Light's there! (And he will be. [insert thunder and lightning]) She'd pull a Beatrix Kiddo = Arlene Machiavelli really, REALLY fast (and perky-like), find a regular source of income or some way to go back to Japan, miraculously wheedle Light into marrying her while she once again resumes idol status (or she could work at a record store; you never know). They'll then have some adorable semi-blonde, freakishly smart little ankle-biters they'll leave with "Unkie/Auntie (Insert Landel's Friend's Name Here)" on certain friday nights then will just... ignore the monsters. For the rest of their natural lives.
Or Light will dump her for one reason or another and she'll spiral into a pit of depression that will inevitably lead to her climbing a building and, WELL, LET'S NOT GET INTO THAT. 6_____6

Anya would just wind up back in Landel's. I don't know what exactly she'd do
other than kill Rukia and all the bunnies, but it would land her back in the loony bin pretty quickly. If she was "cured," I guess she'd just go back to California topractice the brooding she learned from Angel *shot*be a retail clerk again.no subject

Hikaru - Hikaru would be annoyed at the LACK of technology in 1990's New Jersey. XD; He's used to his nice cell phone, laptop, iPod, and other toys available to him as an exorbitantly rich Japanese kid. If somebody handed him a cell phone, he'd probably go WTF I CAN'T TALK INTO THIS, IT'S A BRICK. >:|
Of course, he wouldn't leave without Kaoru. They'd find their way back to Japan and go to where their house is SUPPOSED to be, bitching about the stupid technology along the way.
If he were "cured," he and Kaoru would probably go home, go back to school, fall in love with the same girl, gradually grow apart, and wangst about it. Same old same old, really.
Kenshin - Kenshin is only fourteen years ahead of Okita, so all the technology would also make him ORO~! quite a bit. Once he got back to Japan, he'd ORO some more at how Westernized it's gotten, and then be arrested for carrying a sword around in broad daylight (because somehow he managed to get it past airport security, I'm sure) and get recommitted to another mental hospital for being a retard and talking like he's some sort of samurai.
If he were "cured," he'd go back to his dojo and teach kendo, with his faithful
and much tallerwife at his side. They would make lots of oddly red-haired Japanese babies and avoid "Julian Ikeda's" randomly threatening phone calls and grow old together. AND KENSHIN WOULD USE FIRST-PERSON PRONOUNS THAT ARE ACTUALLY TRANSLATABLE INTO ENGLISH. *RAEG*Keman - He, too, would be baffled by the technology, and then he'd start studying it to see how it could help his own world when he got back. He'd absolutely refuse to leave without his sister or his friends...and may someday end up confessing to his hopeless Landel's crush, Orihime. XD Oh, and eventually he'd get the hang of the whole "puberty as a two-legger" thing.
If he were "cured," he'd go back to his mom's hippie commune and grow...wheat grass or something. Then he'd go to college and study either computer sciences or veterinary medicine, because he loves animals.
And he'd still be a total dork.

He'd try to find a way back to Japan or to contact Nagato, his handy dandy magic-weilding-alien. She's probably the only hope he has of a cure for his vampirism. He'd then remember she was born to the earth three years from his present time and be shit out of luck.
If he was 'Cured' He'd go back home and continue writing short stories and adventures for all his friends.
no subject
If he was 'cured' he'd go back to his family, hate on his dad and then get expelled from school for blowing up a lab.
Yohji would eh... go looking for Cliff? Be completely unable to function without Kritiker around? Yeah, Yohji is screwed if no-one is around to keep him relatively sane.
If he were 'cured' he'd probably go back to Japan and be a PI again ^^ And try not to let any buildings fall on him anymore!
Kenren would go and find Tenpou and
take shameless advantage of the two of them being lovers in Damned worldeh, attempt to turn this world into their version of Heaven. As well as sampling all of the interesting things. Like television. And wine. Damn Homura and his influence >[If he were 'cured', he would go back to Tenpou and have enough sex to make up for being gone for so long :D
Rangiku would never escape without all of the other shinigami and people from her world, and every single person in the Institute. She'd probably end up mothering a lot of the younger ones (younger relative to her anyway). She'd get a job (I dunno... maybe in a bar? Or as a model! :D ) and tease Hitsugaya mercilessly about having to pretend to go to school to keep them hidden ^^
If she were 'cured' then... I dunno, I think she might be something like a cop but I don't know ^^;
Argilla Argilla would go off with her comrades, probably to the beach to see the ocean!! And they'd find a nice secluded spot and every night when the monsters came out they would go hunting until an angry mob decided to come after them.
If she were 'cured' uh... she'd probably go back to living with her military unit where she'd be the medic and sniper.
no subject
and get in a turf war with the Sopranos, this is '90s Jersey, amirite? If he were 'cured', he'd still be a maladjusted semi-sociopath, so being 'cured' really isn't much.
Dairine would go and find the nearest Senior wizard, or try to. Doubtless at night she would be able to portal small distances until she reached Grand Central, or she could even try to go back home to Hempstead. Much lulz would ensue, and she'd have to run away from home if her dad and her sister (and her mom, if she's still alive in Landel's-world) think she's still crazy. Poor Dair. :(
If she were 'cured', she would go and invent the next big computer thing, because she's just that smart.
Conklin would go try and find his connections in the area and make his way back to the CIA
on his single foot, lol. He'd have a lot of fun convincing his old colleagues that he's not crazy, but he did have some luck convincing them that his alcoholism was a mere fabrication. And then he would go and beat up his psychiatrist for having him committed in the first place, 'cause WTF Mo, that shit ain't funny. D<If he were 'cured', I have no idea what he would do. Consult on matters of national security? *shrug*
