Do the characters need to be in the Sun Room/in front of the bulletin board in order to scribble love notes to one another?

This is kind of random, but I hope it's okay that (in one of Ravi's recent bulletin board replies to Renji) I just put '18xx' for whatever year it's supposed to be in the D.Gray-man series, since there isn't a specific one given, beyond 'late nineteenth century'? XD;; I'm assuming it would need to be before 1868, if Tokyo's still Edo, though.
