Hi, everyone!

Last Nightshift's mission was a failure, which means another mission-failure consequence.

As most of you are aware, the patients spent their evening parked along the side of the road leading to the institute while staff tried to make repairs to Bus 3. Now that the sun has set, several of the nurses have transformed into their monster counterparts and are eager to attack other patients. For the record, there are 1 monster nurse per bus.

Second, with so much fresh meat concentrated in one area, it's no surprise that aquilas are going to be on the hunt. Due to the unusual circumstances and the opportunity for a lot of virgin-eating fun, we're allowing all players the option to NPC their own aquilas. For easy reference, here is the aquila description from [personal profile] damned_monsters:

Aquila: Twice the size of a full grown man, these giant birds resemble eagles. But their feathers are mottled grey and black, sickly and ragged. Their claws end in wicked talons, silver and cruel. Their beaks are silver as well, curved to a deadly looking point. Its wings are strong enough that a good blow from one could break a bone or knock a human unconscious. These monsters nest on the roof of the hospital and prefer pure flesh for their meals.

As usual, please don't godmode or give your character any unfair advantages. We're trusting you guys with this! But if we see your character punching three aquilas in the face at once, we're going to have to say something, and we might hesitate to put together this kind of event in the future.

Please note that if you're wanting your character to earn pins from a monster fight, you will still need to make the apporpriate request to an NPC moderator.

Last, but not least: Landel has arranged a surprise for whoever manages to bust their way back into the Entry Room first. If your character/group is about to make a post for the Entry Room, make sure to contact us first! We'll put up the top post for the Entry Room and let you guys handle things from there!

And that should be it for now! We're going to put up an alerts post for all 3 buses so players will be able to better coordinate and have their characters react to what's going on around them, so keep an eye out for that.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know! Thank you!

This is the official Lounge post for players who want to plan out specific Nightshift threads ahead of time in order to foster desired kinds of interaction and character development. Allow us to stress that SCHEDULING THREADS IS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL.

Also, before you comment, please make sure to take a look at NS 63's Mission-Failure Consequence information post. It should give you an idea of any special circumstances in regards to this event, especially since these circumstances should play a huge role in how you schedule threads.

Please use the following template when commenting. We suggest bolding important points so that people who are scanning the post can get a quick idea of what you're looking for. You might also want to use the usernames of the characters whose attention you want so that people can easily ctrl+F to find things relevant to their interests. Your request can range from as vague as "I want my character to make new friends!" to as specific as "I want my character to thread with a megalomaniacal antagonist, if possible."

SUBJECT LINE: character name(s)
Character:
Interaction/Development Wanted: (what kind of plotting/interaction you're looking for, any specific characters you're already going to be threading with, characters you'd like to thread with, etc.)
When: (be as specific or un-specific as you want)

This is where you comment with any alerts that other players should be aware of. Your character knocks down a certain door? Comment here so that there isn't confusion with people trying to open doors that have already been taken care of. Your character raids a supply closet? Note here what was taken so that anyone else heading that way knows what they have left to choose from. Part of the building gets blown up? You better let us know!

Also, if something particularly noteworthy is going on a specific room, feel free to mention it as well. Let's say your character is in the middle of torturing another character in the 2nd floor kitchen. It would be a little weird for a group to bypass that while looking for supplies, so... yes! This is just a simple way for us all to stay informed about the out of the ordinary things that might be going on during any given night.

Basically, just respond here with the appropriate location in the subject line (if applicable, since that's not as easy to do when it's a lock-breaking), and... yes!

Thanks, and enjoy this nightshift!

Request your monsters here!

IMPORTANT NOTE: There will be new sections added to the form for the purposes of the military arc (and beyond that, possibly, if we keep the pin system). Make sure to read carefully when putting in a request.

Also, please note that we're allowing players to NPC their own Aquilas during NS 63, although these threads won't be eligible for monster pins/stickers.

Example:
Characters: Aigis, Zero
Location: X-Ray Operation Room [link here]
Would you like to try for a monster pin?: (Answer yes or no.)
If yes, list what pins each character already has and what weapons/equipment each has:

Now, for how NPC monster modding works! Basically, the maps has been divided up into sections and coded (first floor here, second floor here). Each NPC mod is in charge of a particular section.

That means that when you make a request, you'll pretty much know which NPC mod will be taking care of it. The NPC mods can track this post and keep an eye out for when there are any requests that are in their area and then get to it. (Also, this way if there's a delay in getting your request filled, you know who you can contact about it.) Of course, a NPC mod could always ask one of the others to pinch hit for them if they're busy, on hiatus, etc.

Each NPC mod will reply here with a comment with THEIR NAME in the subject line, and then people will respond directly to that comment when they need a monster. In other words, if I wanted to be attacked by a monster in the Courtyard, I would reply to Tiassa's comment with the request. We think NPC mods might be able to keep track of when they're needed easier that way. In the event that you need an NPC mod in an unassigned area (outside the institute, the basement, etc.), there will be a specific thread for those places that you can respond to (and any mod will be able to pick those requests up).

There will be a three-day waiting period for NPC mod requests. In other words, if you wait three days and still don't get a monster, then you can feel guilt-free about contacting the NPC mod and asking them about it. At that point, the NPC mod must decide if they are going to do it. If they are unable, it's their responsibility to find another NPC mod to handle the request for them.

This should also make it easier for the NPC mods to watch their area and send out random attacks, so stay sharp! 8)

The area assignments can be seen here, or if this is easier:

First Floor
Green - Court
Yellow - Claire
Light Blue - Eryn
Purple - Aison
Pink - Court
Dark Blue - Jansen

Second Floor
Pink - Sarah
Teal - Kaze
Tan - Kristyn
Orange - Psyche
Green - Pazu
Blue - Brenda

As for the outside areas and the basement, those requests can still be handled by any of us! And that's about all! Hope this makes this process a little more efficient.

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen! And for those of you tuning in for the first time, welcome to you as well. A few of your fellow players (created by Serey and currently maintained by: E, Eryn, Kaze, and Sarah) are bringing yet another tool to help you guys out during Nightshift: [personal profile] damned_links!

For those of you who are new and don't know what [personal profile] damned_links is, it's just a listing of links to every location posted to Nightshift. That's right--no scrolling back to find the location you need!

A few guidelines!

-Please check BOTH the listing AND the main comm before posting a new location. We'll update the list often, but sometimes you guys are just way too fast for the links crew! So avoid duplicate locations. They confuse us and everyone else. (If we see a duplicate location, we will probably contact someone, usually the poster of whichever instance has no replies, and ask them to move their post to the other instance of that room so the duplicate can be deleted.)

Your browser's "find" function, usually accessible from CTRL-F, can help you determine whether or not a location has been posted to [community profile] damned_institute yet: just do a search for the name of the location on that page.

  • Check The Maps (or the more-interactive [livejournal.com profile] damned_maps still on LiveJournal) for the names of locations. Use ONLY those marked names AS WRITTEN. That way people will be able to find locations they need more easily, and we won't have to look at where you came from.

  • If you happen across a broken or incorrect link, comment to the list and note which one it is (and the correct link, if you're feeling generous). One of the links crew will comment back when it's been fixed.

  • If duplicate links happen, they will be marked on the links page. Use the earliest one, please, unless your threadmates are already in the duplicate.

  • If the list does end up going un-updated for a few days, the Archive Page for the comm works just as well for a quick overview of what's been posted and what hasn't. CTRL-F is helpful in that situation, too.

Any useful links posted in the Lounge (monster request, room descriptions, notification posts, special event information, etc.) will also be posted on the links page.

Good luck! ♥

Note: We know this NS will be a little bit different for most people: those characters who don't make it to the Institute probably won't be changing locations a lot, but there should also still be some normal hall and room posts. We asked for some mod input about how to handle everything. The result is that we've added a few locations specific to the event to the top of the list!

Gamzee Makara ♑ terminallyCapricious

I've been in this game for so long, it doesn't even seem right to be doing this.

But the truth of the matter is that I'm just not keeping up anymore. I'm not posting to shifts regularly and it's taking me forever to get out tags. There have long been signs that I needed to let the game go and I just haven't had the heart to do it.

But here I am, stepping down with my last character. Gamzee will disappear before he can become aquila food. Rose and Ritsuka are welcome to his things, which consist of a bicycle horn and an ugly sweater, mostly. I'm sure they'll be tackling each other over those.

I love all of you, and it pains me more to drop this game than it has any other, but it's really just time.

So many hugs,
Lauren
