It's the last two weeks of work, so we are rushing around trying to get lots of things done -- which means HIATUS TIME OTL.

In the interests of logistics, I will be back for NS! :)

Hey, everyone!

It's Sunday, which means yet another mail call for the patients of Landel's Institute. After all, it's pretty tough for a lot of people to make an out-of-town trip to pay a visit. That's why patients will be able to receive letters from the outside world.

What this means is that, instead of being limited to personal visits on Sundays, characters can receive letters up to twice a week from anyone who'd like to write them a letter.

Here are some guidelines about how this will work:

1. Staff will pass out letters during the beginning of fourth shift on every Sunday and Thursday. They will be contained in re-sealed envelopes that have had all stamps and addresses completely blacked out.

2. Each character is eligible to receive one letter from one person each Mail Call. This means all of Court's characters could receive a letter, but Sora couldn't have four different people writing to him during a single Mail Call.

3. OOCly, each player is responsible for their characters' own letters. You have the option of either writing them yourself, or finding someone to write them for you.

4. Like visitors, letters will not come from people bearing their canonical names, but rather “real names” of their own. For example, if Sora received a letter from Donald, it would be signed with the name he goes by within the Landel's universe, not “Donald”. He would also call Sora by the "real name" assigned to him by the Institute.

5. Received letters CANNOT contain any information that would be useful to the patient. So, anything about the Institute's location, the writer's location, current events, the time of year, etc. would be mysteriously blacked out.

6. Basic photos and illustrations are allowed as long as they aren't useful to the patient.

7. Items outside of photos and illustrations are not allowed. Only letters will be delivered to the patients.

8. Characters who are on hiatus or seeing a Sunday visitor during Mail Call may find any received letters waiting for them in their possessions box the next time they see it during Dinner.

Here is an example of what a letter might look like.

Also, we've discovered that the black-out code over text doesn't work in LJ comments (not sure if it's the same for Dreamwidth, though I'd imagine so), but it does work in a journal post. For people who'd like to keep a letter in a character journal and link it over into a thread from there, the code is: Blocked Text (replacing the [ ] with the usual > symbols, of course!)

At this time the Institute will not accept written responses to any received letters, though this may change in the future.

We'll be putting up a Letters Discussion Post where people can bounce ideas off of each other, make requests for help, and offer to help write letters from characters they're familiar with.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to drop us a line!

Thank you!

This is a place for people to discuss letters they want their characters to receive, and to make requests for others to write their letters if they'd like! Those who wish to make a request should title their subject line "REQUEST [Canon title]" for easier visibility.

Also, I said this in the Info post, but I'll mention it again for easier visibility: we've discovered that the black-out code over text doesn't work in LJ comments (I'm assuming this is also the case for Dreamwidth comments), but it should work in a journal post. For people who'd like to keep a letter in a character journal and link it over into a thread from there, the code is: Blocked Text (replacing the [ ] with the usual > symbols, of course!)

Thank you! If you have an questions or concerns, please let Court, Psyche or me know through either a comment here or throwing us a contact.
