Hi, guys, E here!
First of all, Nightshift will end on the 20th (Wednesday). This is technically a day late, but Court and I both thought it might be an easier day to remember than the 19th in terms of "what day did DS start?" My current plan is to change it in the evening, probably sometime around 6-8 pm EST. If we put it off any further than the 20th, it will be for very clear reasons.
There should be a plot post in the very near future.
Dayshift will be a mingle log, still in prose, and dinner will start 16 days after it goes up.
That length of time might seem slightly long in comparison to what we've all discussed (it doesn't really shorten DS), but it was chosen for two reasons. The biggest is that this particular DS covers Thanksgiving weekend in the US, and even without that as a factor, late November and early December tends to be a very busy time for people. The other reason is that this upcoming Nightshift is crucial to the outcome of the game, so it's going to be a vital DS for coordination and scheming between the various teams. As far as I know, future DS mingles will most likely be a few days shorter.
There will be info about how to proceed within the log itself, but the idea is that you probably have a good idea of how your threads are going to go, in terms of when they're taking place and what info is being exchanged in them, and can therefore start a couple of them simultaneously if you want (you will be playing them out at the same time irl, but they will be set one after another as usual in-game, as if some are forward-dated).
If you don't want to do all your threads at once, you have some flexibility with timing. You can just start them on the days you would have if we were still doing shift changes every 4 days like before, or do one thread one week and another the next, etc. It's in your hands.
The log will have a morning section and an afternoon section... while characters will still experience all four shifts, putting that many divisions in the log would make the log's structure pointlessly rigid. Honestly, even putting in morning and afternoon is mostly for organizational purposes.
It won't be ok to go hog-wild and try to thread with every other player in the game all at the same time, but it will be ok to do three threads set in the morning and none in the afternoon, that kind of thing. Try to keep it to no more than four threads total for the day if you can, just like any other DS.
The idea is for the log to be more flexible and casual than usual DS stuff, but still "Damned-ish." Hopefully you'll be able to get your characters talking to whoever they need to talk to.
Finally, like Court said... I'm not actually a mod, in spite of the tag on this post (which I used solely because this is mod-type info that you need to know)... I'm just doing the shift change/intercom posts while she's away, and setting up the log! If you need real legit mod help with something not discussed in this post, Jansen is still your go-to person. I won't be able to do anything but refer you to her.
