Well, the time has come. The device has been set off, which has disabled Landel's powers and therefore returned all of the patients' powers! It's time to kick some ass once and for all.

Keep in mind that there are now monsters all over the place, so getting around the institute will still take some effort, even if the creatures are a little easier to dispose of now that characters have their powers back. You don't need to worry about NPCing for the monsters, just write them in yourself! Go wild.

As soon as a group of patients reaches Landel's office, there will be a thread set up there for the final showdown, so to speak, although there's already a plan in place for who his murderer will be. (Hint: he's got giant fangs and claws.)

If you've got any questions or comments, feel free to leave them here!

Hello, guys! This is a post directed to those of you who are still interested in trying to play out the ending to Damned as far as we can. I realize that I've dropped the ball on this lately, which I apologize for! I'm going to use this post to set out the information we have and make sure that everyone is on the same page.

So, the important event that's taken place is that L and Lana managed to disable the security system. This means that the entire building is now vulernable to damage, and it won't just rebuild itself. That means that characters can knock down walls and all sorts of other things, and do some real damage!

On the other hand, there are safety measures for if the security system is shut down, which means that monsters will now be streaming out in droves to try and put down the threat. It should be fine for people to NPC their own monsters in their posts -- at this point, it's up to you what happens to your character!

It might be kind of hard to do this without their full powers back, though, so after talking to a few people I thought that it might be best if we assume that Guy, Claude, and Anise passed the device the rebels gave them that can disable Landel onto someone else. (Or if a group is going to head up that way, maybe they pass it to them on the way there?)

For the sake of making things easier, the device could have a certain range in which it works, which means that the patients wouldn't have to actually find Landel for it to work. They might want to try and track him down after that, though, since they'll have all their powers back and Landel will be vulernable.

The other thought was that the military could get involved at this point, but since there are so few of us left, I wasn't sure if we wanted to do that.

As things are, I think the best thing to do would be to figure out who's actually going to obtain the device and use it, and then who will be fighting off the monsters vs. who will be tracking down Landel. After Landel has been killed and the fighting has died down, then decisions can be made about who wants to go home and who wants to stay, etc.

So if we could have everyone who's still interested check in here with some idea of what their character will be doing in the next phase of this, that would be great and it would also give me a better idea of how things should be structured. Thank you!

Hi, guys!

I wanted to make sure that everyone who was still interested is aware that most of this thread up to its current point (starting when Lana IC-ly turns on the radio) was broadcast here, and that it ends in the security system shutting down with a lot of sirens going off.

(Huge apologies for my slowness in the IRIS thread itself: I've had a lot of personal life stuff come up.)

It's been my understanding since the most recent comment (the security system shut-down) that a mod post is coming soon to explain what happens next.

However, if you were in one of the rooms behind IRIS on the chain, you will probably be able to start moving ahead shortly if you like, and your characters would certainly be aware of what happens at the end of IRIS's most recent tag.

This is the official Lounge post for players who want to plan out specific Dayshift threads ahead of time in order to foster desired kinds of interaction and character development. Allow us to stress that SCHEDULING THREADS IS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL, and while there is no limit on the amount of threads you can schedule, we strongly encourage you to take care in how many threads you schedule and try to keep yourself open for random interaction when possible.

Please use the following template when commenting. We suggest bolding important points so that people who are scanning the post can get a quick idea of what you're looking for. You might also want to use the usernames of the characters whose attention you want so that people can easily ctrl+F to find things relevant to their interests. Your request can range from as vague as "I want my character to make new friends!" to as specific as "I want my character to thread with a megalomaniacal antagonist during lunch, if possible."

You might want to refer to the schedule to know how to plan threads!

We will be putting up a mingle that encapsulates the entire Dayshift, just as we did last time, so there is no longer a strict shift change schedule!

SUBJECT LINE: character name(s)

Name:
Posting Speed: (give a rough idea! fast = roughly 2+ posts per day per character; medium = roughly 1 post per day per character; slow = 1 post every 2 or 3 days (consistently). if your speed varies, say so and explain how if possible.)
Notes: Anything a potential thread partner might need to know, from which days of the week you're fastest on to how many shifts you are planning to schedule (if you want to limit it, say so) to upcoming things that might make you busy at a certain (exam week, trips, etc.)

Character:
Interaction/Development Wanted: (what kind of plotting/interaction you're looking for, any specific characters you're already going to be threading with, characters you'd like to thread with, etc.)
When: (be as specific or un-specific as you want)

So, I'm back, but also with a very reluctantly given and sad announcement. After giving it some thought over these past few days, I've decided that it's finally time to say goodbye to Damned. I have thoroughly enjoyed my past six years and then some at this wonderful game, and I was really hoping that I would be able to make it to March and the official end. However, after a serious evaluation of my tagging ability and motivation during the school semester, I think this is probably for the best. Thank you to everyone who's ever threaded with Kratos; I honestly never expected to play him for this long.

I'll try to keep him around for one last DS in case anyone wants to squeeze in a last thread with him!

Hey, guys!

A few notifications, if you travel through the following areas.

1. Claire told Sarah and me that the map is wrong when you get to the Climate Control Utilities room (after the Record Archives). The red door out of General Storage shouldn't be red: it's unlocked and can be opened. The next pad is in the Live Cultures Server Room, and that door has a rusted lock. However, L has helpfully kicked it in for the next group. All of this is on West Wing Hall 3-A.

(ETA: his kick hasn't destroyed the door or anything, but it did pop the lock. There might be some splintering near the latch or something; he side-kicked hard right above the knob. The hinges are fine.)

2. The next location is the First Floor & Basement Security Station. Characters coming through there will probably find a dead Front Office Nurse in front of the pad you come in on. She's been shot three times at relatively close range: once in the shoulder, once in the top of the head, once in the chest.

I'm assuming that mods will let you know if the body has been moved, if there will be more staff in the room for subsequent encounters, etc. I'm not sure whether or not everyone who comes through there has to encounter a nurse, or only the first team.

Kind of out of the blue, but I'm heading out on a trip tomorrow, and won't be back until Thursday, after which I'll be gone all weekend on ANOTHER trip (I know right...), so basically, Kratos will be on hiatus until January 21st, after which I should be able to post normally again. Wow I'm sure posting to the Lounge a lot these days...

Hey everyone! So Kratos, Castiel, and Lloyd have found the Records Archive and in particular, a database containing the locations of all the patients' home worlds. He's sent out a public broadcast about it here, so if your character has their radio on them, feel free to respond!

I've called this game a home for years, and I was hoping I'd be able stick around through its final days, but my motivation for it is getting less and less, and I think at this point I have to admit that probably isn't going to change any time soon. I love playing my character to death, and I regret leaving behind some of his close CR, but the game itself has turned into a grind for me, so I think it's time to let it go.

Not really feeling up to having him go out heroically or anything like that, so Court and Lauren, you're free to have your guys find the room empty and sort through his stuff as you please.

Have an awesome endgame, everyone.

Sorry to say, but I'm dropping from the game as well. I was hoping to stick through to the end of the game, but I've been losing focus on my threads more than I'd like to admit and it's just time to bite the bullet. Sorry to everyone Al's made friends with, and have fun dumping Landel off onto his rear!

Drop

I've been struggling with maintaining interest in the game for awhile, but with me not even looking at Ed's flist for the last month... I think it's time to admit defeat and bow out. Sorry to castmates and people he's built CR with.

Hi, everyone! Here's a poll for M-U slots. If you're interested in volunteering your character for M-U, feel free to submit their names to the following poll!

We've lifted most of the prior restrictions, allowing players and characters to receive M-U as many times as they wish. This should allow for easier canon updates for those who want to do something like that for one of their characters.

However, you cannot submit a character if:

a) Your character has been in the game for less than four months.

b) Your character has had SC/M-U in the past six months.

And, as usual, we reserve the right to not consider someone who has been inactive lately as well. Otherwise, you should be good to go!

ONE LAST NOTE FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING M-U: Please do not vote unless you have some idea of what you want your character to go through. NPC mods have struggled in the past with players who expected them to come up with it for them. Their job is to NPC the doctor for you, and most NPC mods are happy to flesh out an idea and help with it, but you need to have at least some baseline to work off of. Consider that carefully before voting!

That said, here is the poll!

Poll #14681 M-U Slots
This poll is closed.
Open to: Access List, detailed results viewable to: Access List, participants: 0

Which character would you like to volunteer for M-U this nightshift?

The poll closes 24 hours from now. Let me know if you have any questions.

Well, it's getting close to that time of the year where suddenly, school decides to be a butt. It's been a butt this entire semester, but the last few weeks before finals are shaping up to be the worst ones yet. Since I've already experienced a dramatic decrease in posting motivation just from dealing with everything that's made up this semester so far, I figured I might as well make it official and go on hiatus before I make a bunch of plans and then promptly proceed to disregard all of them. So, Kratos will be missing this entire dayshift, and should be returning around December 7th.

I say December 7th now, but we'll see how finals week and all that goes…may have to push my return back another two weeks depending on how I feel.

Sorry to everyone this affects!

You might want to refer to the schedule to know how to plan threads! Also, there will be some changes in the shift activities. Instead of a lunch shift, the third shift will be spent as a free choice shift with bag lunches of snacks given out.

Also, as detailed in this post, Dayshift will be a mingle log, still in prose. It will last from November 20th until December 5th, after which dinner shift will begin as normal.

While you're able to do multiple threads simultaneously, we ask that players try not to do more than 4 threads, just like any other DS.

NOTE: IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE INFO POST ABOUT THIS COMING DAYSHIFT, PLEASE DO SO BEFORE COMMENTING TO THE PLOT POST.

Have fun!

Hi, guys, E here!

First of all, Nightshift will end on the 20th (Wednesday). This is technically a day late, but Court and I both thought it might be an easier day to remember than the 19th in terms of "what day did DS start?" My current plan is to change it in the evening, probably sometime around 6-8 pm EST. If we put it off any further than the 20th, it will be for very clear reasons.

There should be a plot post in the very near future.

Dayshift will be a mingle log, still in prose, and dinner will start 16 days after it goes up.

That length of time might seem slightly long in comparison to what we've all discussed (it doesn't really shorten DS), but it was chosen for two reasons. The biggest is that this particular DS covers Thanksgiving weekend in the US, and even without that as a factor, late November and early December tends to be a very busy time for people. The other reason is that this upcoming Nightshift is crucial to the outcome of the game, so it's going to be a vital DS for coordination and scheming between the various teams. As far as I know, future DS mingles will most likely be a few days shorter.

There will be info about how to proceed within the log itself, but the idea is that you probably have a good idea of how your threads are going to go, in terms of when they're taking place and what info is being exchanged in them, and can therefore start a couple of them simultaneously if you want (you will be playing them out at the same time irl, but they will be set one after another as usual in-game, as if some are forward-dated).

If you don't want to do all your threads at once, you have some flexibility with timing. You can just start them on the days you would have if we were still doing shift changes every 4 days like before, or do one thread one week and another the next, etc. It's in your hands.

The log will have a morning section and an afternoon section... while characters will still experience all four shifts, putting that many divisions in the log would make the log's structure pointlessly rigid. Honestly, even putting in morning and afternoon is mostly for organizational purposes.

It won't be ok to go hog-wild and try to thread with every other player in the game all at the same time, but it will be ok to do three threads set in the morning and none in the afternoon, that kind of thing. Try to keep it to no more than four threads total for the day if you can, just like any other DS.

The idea is for the log to be more flexible and casual than usual DS stuff, but still "Damned-ish." Hopefully you'll be able to get your characters talking to whoever they need to talk to.

Finally, like Court said... I'm not actually a mod, in spite of the tag on this post (which I used solely because this is mod-type info that you need to know)... I'm just doing the shift change/intercom posts while she's away, and setting up the log! If you need real legit mod help with something not discussed in this post, Jansen is still your go-to person. I won't be able to do anything but refer you to her.

Links is up, and all the third-floor locations have been added. Better late than never, right?

12 November 2013 @ 04:46 pm
All right, everyone! So I am heading out tomorrow to go to Italy for two weeks, so I won't be around for tagging or mod things during that time. Characters affected are Sora, Guy Cecil, and Castiel.

Jansen is your go-to person for any mod-like questions, and the best way to contact her is by email. E will be putting up shift changes.

The hotels I'm staying in all have free wi-fi, so for anything urgent you can send me an email or a private plurk, but it may take me some time to get back to you.

As far as the end of Nightshift goes, all of my characters will be on autopilot. So those who I'm threading with, feel free to move on and act as if they're still there! I give you permissions to do with them what you will.

I think that's all! I'll be back around Thanksgiving. \o/
